About Kerrin
I have been a qualified naturopath since graduating from Nature Care College in 1992. With Diplomas in Naturopathy, Nutrition, Botanical Medicine, Homoeopathy and Remedial Massage, I am currently practicing at Life Source in North Sydney and from my own clinic in Cromer, near Dee Why, on the Northern Beaches of Sydney. I also teach Iridology, Nutrition and Celloid Mineral Therapy at Nature Care College and the Australasian College of Natural Therapies.
People often ask me why I studied Naturopathy and I would say that the most appealing aspect to me was the philosophy of getting to the cause of people's health problems, rather than just treating symptoms. Seeing people around me popping painkillers and simply alleviating problems gave me a strong sense that there must be more to illnesses than just treating the symptoms. So I took the fairly unusual step in the late 1980s, of studying for a Diploma of Naturopathy at Nature Care College.
Upon graduation I managed a health food store, Russells Natural Food
Markets at Dee Why, for 4 years, before starting up my practice in 1996.
In 1999 I moved to England and worked for Blackmores UK as their sole Naturopath
and Practitioner Services Manager, and I was also clinic supervisor and head
Naturopath at their clinic in West London, Apotheke 20-20. I stayed in England
for 4 years, returning to Sydney in 2003 and re-establishing my practice.
My aim is to make Naturopathy easily available to people time-wise and
financially, and to educate the public that there is often more than just
one solution to a health problem - you need to look at all your options and
choose which path is best for you.
I'm passionate about Naturopathy and I like to get good results - this is
in both the patient and my own interest.
Some people ask - Does Naturopathy really work?
A Naturopath couldn't be in business if it didn't! - most of my clients come
from referrals. I am honest with my clients, if I think something can't
be treated successfully Naturopathically, I will say so and refer them
on.
I like to explain to people what I am giving them and what is happening in
their bodies, there are no secret ingredients. Everyone is treated on an
individual basis - no two people, bodies, diets or herb mixtures are the
same.
In my practice I use a variety of modalities according to the person´s need. These include dietary changes, nutritional supplementation, Celloid mineral therapy, herbal medicine, Australian bush flower essences, Bach flower remedies and homoeopathy. I have also studied holistic animal care, have Reiki II certification and do remedial massage, lymphatic drainage massage and ear candling.
I'm often asked to contribute articles to various magazines and have acted
as the naturopathic consultant on numerous books including
Eatts,T 1999, Health and Wellbeing,, Landsdowne Press, Sydney.
